Discarded in a ditch,
remnants of begonia persist.
Did it once adorn a pool patio?
Or hang above a manicured lawn?
No longer perfect, was it abandoned,
not worth the try?
Dried dirt clumps around brown roots
still holding the shape of a basket.
Out of thirsty stems, shriveled leaves gather sun.
Cautiously a small crown of flowers grows,
petals mirroring passing clouds.
Spun by currents of light, Earth leans toward life.
